What happened at The Cell between November 2006 and January 2010?

During a four year period... the a 90m2 rectangular space known as the Sea Cell provided a venue for crafting surfboards, stitching garments, celebrating art, dropping in, dropping out and drinking up.

Although Sea surfboards existed since 2001, it wasn’t until 2006 that they built their own playhouse. Art shows, walk shorts, fishes and logs all combined with the talents of Dain Thomas, Matty Yeates, Paul McNeil and Brent ’ Whalebone’ Wayling.

Sea continues and there will be other ‘Cells’, but those years were a creative party of music, hazy innovation, camaraderie and shenanigans that shook Byron Bay’s rainbow foundations and left a very large creative crater to fill. Zine includes photography from: Ryan Heywood, Dane Peterson, Matt Yeates, Paul McNeil, Dain Thomas, Bluesnapper, Miles Pitt and Sam Smith.
