Rick Shearman #28

Artist: Rick Shearman

Growing up in Byron Bay, Rick’s two great loves were surfing and drawing. After graduating from the Queensland College of Art, his third great love, travel, was thrown into the mix. Having lived in Denmark, Germany, Italy, Austria and Costa Rica and working frequently in Hong Kong — he has spent long periods of time observing, contemplating, assimilating and soaking up the world and cultures around him, recording encounters and visual stimuli in visual journals. “Drawing for me is a more intuitive medium than text for recording moments in time”.

He now has a wife and two kids* — so no more surfing, drawing or travelling.

He now happily calls Byron Bay home again, with his other great loves — his wife and two kids.
